Long Son Pagoda is located at the foot of Trai Thuy Hill, next to 23 October road in the southern gateway of Nha Trang city. This is the largest pagoda in Nha Trang. Long Son pagoda was built starting from the late 19th century and was completed in 1940. It has a modern architecture but still retains a classical elegance, majesty and dignity. There are many beautiful trees, which create a shady and fresh space for the pagoda. The gate of the pagoda is near the main road and is made of concrete, which is 6m wide and 4m high. The name Long Son pagoda is hung above the gate. The 2 Chinese parallel sentences are inlaid with porcelain on the 2 columns of the gate. There is a garden on the left and a college of Buddhism on the right side of the gate. The gate is 1000m2 away from the main hall. The main hall leads to the south. It was built at the foot of the hill with a height of 5m above the ground of the pagoda. The visitors must climb the steps to enter the main hall. There are two delicate stone dragons of 10m long at the 2 sides of the steps. They are placed in the parallel positon with the heads toward the main hall. The front hall is about 30m wide, which is the place to worship the Buddha and the Bodhisattva. They are painted with gold lacquer and arranged in the Buddhist order, creating the dignity and harmony for the pagoda.
Behind the pagoda, the 24m high, white statue of Buddha in a meditation posture is placed at the top of Trai Thuy Hill. This statute was built from 1964-1965 by direct application over a steel frame. This is a creative artwork of the architects and sculptors, which is reflected by the beautiful face and shape of the statute. This is a gorgeous sculpture, which shows the kindness, compassion and happiness of the Buddha. The sculptors have used approximately a million sacks of cement to make this statue. The giant white Buddha statue is situated on a high hill, so that the visitors can enjoy the beauty from any place in the city.
